For a hotel near Hongik University Station, start by checking the AREX All-Stop Train. It serves Hongik University without a train change. The Express Train goes directly to Seoul Station and does not stop at Hongik University. Knowing that distinction is more useful than choosing a ticket simply because it says “express”.

Start with the station you actually need
Korea Tourism Organization distinguishes the All-Stop service, which calls at Hongik University, from the non-stop Express to Seoul Station. These are different services; the AREX name alone does not tell you whether your train serves Hongdae.
A faster journey to Seoul Station need not mean a faster journey to your hotel. If you choose the Express, include the onward trip from Seoul Station before comparing it with an All-Stop journey.

Use your arrival terminal in every search
Check your ticket or arrival information for Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. Incheon Airport directs rail passengers to the Transportation Center on B1 at each terminal. After baggage collection, follow the Airport Railroad signs.
Search from your actual terminal, not just “Incheon Airport”. Your aircraft’s landing time is not the time you will be ready to board a train. Leave room for immigration, baggage collection and finding the station.
Check the ticket and departure together
The KTO guide lists single-use tickets and supported transportation cards for the All-Stop service. Confirm that your particular card has the required transit function; an ordinary payment card is not automatically a tap-in transit card.
Use four inputs when checking your journey: terminal, Hongik University as the destination, travel date and departure time. A Seoul Station fare is not a Hongik University fare. Check the operator’s current information for fares and the last usable departure.
Plan the station-to-hotel leg before flying
Save the Korean business name and street address from your booking. “Near Hongdae” does not identify the most convenient station exit. Include the passage from the AREX platform to street level when checking directions.
With a large suitcase or a need to avoid stairs, check elevator access rather than choosing only the shortest route. For a late arrival, save the check-in deadline and entrance instructions where you can read them offline.
Have one alternative for a delayed arrival
If no suitable train remains after you clear arrivals, check the airport’s late-night bus and taxi information. A bus is only useful if its operating time and final stop work for your accommodation. Do not assume every airport bus serves Hongdae.
At the official taxi stand, show the destination and check the fare structure and extra items such as tolls. If sharing the cost, check that the vehicle also fits your luggage. One primary route and one fallback are enough for a practical arrival plan.
