Hwadam Botanic Garden in Autumn 2026: Tickets, Monorail and Walking

An opening date is not live ticket availability

The official notice says autumn bookings opened on 16 September at 13:00 KST, with an additional monorail product opening the following day. Those dates have already passed. Follow the official website’s link to NOL and check your chosen date, party size and product rather than expecting a future ticket release.

Read what is included in the reservation: Hwadam admission, Hwadamchae and the monorail are distinct items. Choosing a monorail time is not proof that you also hold garden admission. After payment, check the confirmation for the date, entry and boarding times, guest count and cancellation terms.

International visitors should also check the booking service’s account and payment requirements before committing to transport. We have not tested whether every overseas card or phone number works. If you cannot complete a valid reservation, choose another date or a different outing instead of assuming you can buy admission on arrival.

Gonjiam Station is not the garden entrance

The garden is in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, at 경기 광주시 도척면 도척윗로 278-1. This is not Gwangju Metropolitan City in southwestern Korea. The official directions call for a taxi or Gwangju bus 9 after arriving at Gonjiam Station on the Gyeonggang Line. Leave transfer, waiting and entrance time before your booked slot. Choose a segment for its walking implications

For a walking-focused visit, leave time to stop, take photographs and rest. The approximately 20-minute monorail circuit is a vehicle journey, not the duration of a complete garden visit. A short ride can still sit within a much longer afternoon.

Compare where you will get off. Station 1 to Station 2 and Station 1 to Station 3 allow you to continue on foot; the full circuit returns to Station 1. The operator does not permit getting off midway and reboarding on the same ticket. Select the product that matches your intended walk.

The operator distinguishes online booking for departures from Station 1 from on-site purchases of remaining or cancelled capacity. Availability at a kiosk is not guaranteed. Pushchairs must be folded for boarding. If someone in your party needs mobility assistance, check the full route and boarding conditions directly.

Let the booked entry time shape the meal

Use a local planning window of roughly 4–6 hours: perhaps 2–3 hours for the garden, at least an hour for food and a break, plus local transfers and a buffer. This is an editorial allowance, not a measured tour duration. Travel from Seoul or another starting point is additional.

For an early entry slot, eat after the visit. For a later slot, have lunch around Gonjiam first. A restaurant with a long queue immediately before timed admission is a poor fit, regardless of its reputation. The garden’s visitor guidance restricts outside food, so do not build the day around an assumed picnic inside.

After substantial walking, a meal and one drink can be enough. Adding several cafés or another attraction increases transfers and potential taxi waits. Keep the extra stop optional until you know your group’s energy and the journey home.

Budget separately for entry and transport

The standing admission guide lists ₩11,000 for adults, ₩9,000 for seniors and teenagers, and ₩7,000 for children, with under-24-month infants free. Some discounts do not operate during autumn. Check the product terms for your actual visit instead of relying on a discount from a previous trip.

For one adult, entry plus an assumed ₩15,000 meal and ₩6,000 drink totals ₩32,000 before transport. Adding the Station 1–2 monorail makes it ₩37,000; adding the circuit instead makes it ₩41,000. Food prices are assumptions. Trains, taxis, Hwadamchae and other paid programmes are excluded.

Check foliage and seasonal hours close to the date

Peak season is a booking label; peak foliage depends on weather and the condition of different trees. The autumn reservation notice cannot establish the best-colour day for the whole garden. Look at recent official updates and the local weather forecast as your date approaches.

The general visitor page lists regular hours and Monday closure but explicitly allows seasonal and weather changes. For an autumn reservation, prioritise the date-specific booking information and monthly operating notice. Recheck monorail operation, and choose shoes and layers for the actual rain and wind forecast.
