The Heo Jun Festival takes place on 10–11 October 2026 around the lawn at Seoul Botanic Park, Magok Square and Magokjungang-ro. It makes a useful afternoon outing in western Seoul: choose a festival activity, have a meal and visit the greenhouse. Decide before leaving whether you want daytime activities or an evening performance, because those produce quite different schedules.

Pick the part of the festival you want to see
For a family visit, arrive in the late morning and choose one or two activities. The official exhibition page lists a Heo Jun and Donguibogam display, robot football and drawing, and an exploration bus, with those displays and activities scheduled for 11:00–18:00 on both days. Leave room for queues rather than treating the list as a checklist to complete.
For an evening visit, check the schedule for your particular date. Saturday’s concert and Sunday’s music programme are different. Select a performance first, then arrange food and the greenhouse beforehand; the park’s indoor attraction does not automatically follow the festival’s evening timetable.
Orient yourself between the station and greenhouse
Magongnaru Station is the useful starting point for the Open Forest side of the park. The festival lawn and greenhouse belong to the same larger park but have different entrances and admission arrangements. Agree on a specific meeting point instead of simply saying “outside the park.” This illustration shows approximate positions; use the linked map and signs for actual entrances.
A suggested plan for an 11:00 arrival
Allow 60–90 minutes for selected festival activities, around an hour for lunch, and about 90 minutes for the greenhouse and themed garden. Keep the remaining time for a short walk, a drink and any queues. That gives a local plan of roughly 4–5 hours, excluding travel from your accommodation. These are planning allowances, not measured walking or waiting times.
If the evening performance is your priority, reverse the emphasis: arrive later, visit the greenhouse first, eat an early dinner and then go to the performance area. Trying to leave the greenhouse until after the show risks missing its admission window.
Separate festival access from greenhouse admission
The greenhouse and themed garden are a paid area, separate from the outdoor public park. The park’s standing guide lists March–October hours of 09:30–18:00, final admission at 17:00 and a standard adult ticket of ₩5,000. The linked map is an older official guide, so check current notices or the ticket office for event-day changes and applicable discounts.
Skipping the paid attraction is a reasonable option if queues have used up your afternoon. You can keep the outing to the festival, an outdoor stroll and a meal. In light rain, put the greenhouse at the centre of the plan, while remembering that getting between the station, festival and greenhouse still involves outdoor movement.
Use the station as your transport anchor
The festival website announces road controls around Magokjungang-ro from 02:00 on 10 October until 02:00 on 12 October. The closure period therefore extends beyond Sunday’s festival programme. Organisers recommend public transport because parking is limited.
Magongnaru is served by Seoul Subway Line 9 and the Airport Railroad, commonly called AREX. Official directions point to exits 3 and 4. If you need step-free access, check the lift route rather than relying on an exit number alone. For map searches, use 마곡나루역 and 서울식물원; the park address is 서울 강서구 마곡동로 161.
Build a meal and a buffer into the day
Choose a meal around Magongnaru before entering the park or make it a seated break between activities. If you rely on festival food, allow for queues and finding somewhere to eat. This guide does not endorse a restaurant we have personally visited; choose by menu, opening hours and the time you can afford to wait.
An illustrative adult budget is ₩5,000 for the greenhouse, ₩15,000 for a meal, ₩6,000 for a drink and ₩4,000 contingency: ₩30,000 before transport and any separately charged activities. The food and drink amounts are assumptions, not menu prices. Under the same assumptions, skipping the greenhouse makes it ₩25,000.

Frequently asked questions
Does attending the festival require a greenhouse ticket?
Outdoor festival areas and the paid greenhouse/themed garden are separate. Check greenhouse admission and individual activity conditions independently.
Can I fit every daytime activity and the concert into half a day?
That can exceed the suggested 4–5 hours. Choose a daytime visit or an afternoon greenhouse visit followed by an evening performance.
Does the festival continue on 12 October?
Its advertised dates are 10–11 October. The 02:00 time on 12 October is the announced end of the road controls.
Summary
Start at Magongnaru for the 10–11 October Heo Jun Festival, then combine selected activities, a meal and Seoul Botanic Park. Greenhouse admission follows its own hours. If you want an evening performance, visit the greenhouse first. Road controls continue into early 12 October, so plan public transport for both directions.
